Brand Guidelines Ideas

Skype Brand Guidelines: I liked how they presented their guidelines. They started off with people talking about how cool it would be if something like this existed, so it made it feel like they were having a conversation with you instead of just throwing a bunch of information at us right away. I liked the use of what looked like hand drawn designs with the word to make it less wordy and easier to understand what they were saying.  They provided great examples of what to do and what not to do, my favorite example was the speech bubble and how they have very specific looking speech bubbles for their company. Another thing I really liked that they did was bring in examples of how Skype is for everyone and how they have very different people talking about why they use it.  They gave examples of their partners which was a pretty cool idea.  Skype

" But China's controversial social credit system – which ranks all of its 1.4 billion citizens on their  behavior  in real-time – is real, and it's on track to launch by 2020." (Daily Mail Harry Pettit). "Liu Hu, a journalist in China, told  CBS News  that when he tried to book a flight, he was told he was banned from flying because he was on a list of untrustworthy people."  (Daily Mail Harry Pettit). "In 2015 Ant Financial was one of eight tech companies granted approval from the People’s Bank of China to develop their own private credit scoring platforms. Zhima Credit appeared in the Alipay app shortly after that. The service tracks your behavior on the app to arrive at a score between 350 and 950, and offers perks and rewards to those with good scores." (Wired Mara Hvstendahl). I personally find this very disturbing. I already think that the government can track and know everything about you just by you signing into a website. I do not like

Is Google making us stupid? I think it is a little bit of yes, and a little bit of no. I think that it has affected peoples' ability to focus and read anything long and wordy, and has definitely affected our ability to remember a lot of basic information. I can say personally I need to turn to google a lot to look up things like the events of a game, or the history or name of an actor. However I think that it has done a lot of good too. Look at the typewriter example. His writing may have changed, but using that advancement of technology, he was able to keep writing comfortably. Or even the advancement of the clock lets people be more efficient  and get as much work done  in a 24 hour period. I think the future of generations will not really be able to read massively long books like we grew up doing in school. It'll be much more of short but impactful readings, or possibly no reading at all, but more listening to people tell the stories themselves.
